Zlatan Ibrahimovic Becomes Samsung’s Brand Ambassador

Manchester United forward and professed gadget lover, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has signed on with Samsung’sNordic division in a new deal that will see the footballer acting as Samsung’s brand ambassador in the region. In fact, although the deal won’t actually start until sometime this spring, the player has already uploaded a video to Twitter, lauding the brand. In the associated tweet, Ibrahimovic describes himself as a “gadget freak,” while he says in the video that he always has to have the latest tech as soon as it hits the market. According to Ibrahimovic, it’s lucky for him that he’ll be working with the world’s best technology company. As to the video itself, the Swedish footballer can be seen using a couple of Samsung devices showing off some of those handsets’ features. In one shot he is seen fiddling with the creation of his very own AR Emoji Avatar on Samsung’s Galaxy S9. After a brief cutaway, the camera levels on Ibrahimovic signing an autograph with the S-Pen included with the company’s Galaxy Note 8.

For now, it isn’t clear whether the company is sticking to its mobile devices and similar technologies or if it is including a wider range of its products as part of the deal. However, according to a representative for Samsung, Corporate Marketing Director of Samsung Nordic Eva Carrero, part of this deal means that the football player will be using Samsung’s products both “on the go and in his home.” That could mean the player’s home will be outfitted with any number of products the company has been announcing over the last several months – which could include more recent reveals such as its new Family Hub Refrigerator.  There’s really no way to tell, at this point, which products he’ll be promoting. Since it’s not necessarily likely that Samsung has nothing planned for the rest of the year, he will almost certainly get to go hands-on with anything else the company has planned.

In the meantime, it’s interesting to note that Ibrahimovic had been an avid iPhone user prior to this deal. Whether or not working with Samsung will shift him over to Android for good, remains to be seen.
